introduction to green woodworking

Taking place at our private woodland site on the grounds of Gilbert White’s House, Selborne, Hampshire, we will be gathering around the campfire and hosting an ‘Intro to Green Woodworking' workshop, on Friday 2nd October, 10am - 1pm.

This 3hr woodcraft & whittling for beginners workshop is designed for children approx. 7yrs + and will provide the opportunity to explore basic knife/tool safety and use. After a short introduction to share key info on basic green woodworking tools and methods, participants will discover a range of techniques to allow for simple, safe sawing and carving of greenwood, and make use of various tool and knife skills to shape and produce some items to take home. During this workshop, each participant will have the opportunity to craft their own wood working mallet, which is used in conjunction with a few key carving/cutting techniques, to work on one or two small greenwood projects. Please note, that this workshop has a focused and structured delivery.

Completion of this ‘beginners’ workshop is the ideal first step into Green Woodworking, demonstrating the safe use of tools and equipment, and aimed at developing confidence and knowledge in green woodworking skills.

An adult will need to accompany children at this workshop.

The cost of this workshop is £25 per child (inclusive of 1 accompanying adult per child booking). Parent to child ratio is 1:2 max. Price is inclusive of hot drink and snack.

Due to the nature of the workshop and the tool use involved, this workshop has limited numbers (6 child spaces available) - Participants in this workshop must be at least 7yrs old.

The workshop is delivered outdoors in our private woodland site. This workshop will be delivered in all weathers (tarps are used to provide shelter from any rain) except extremely strong winds (in line with our Terms and Conditions of Booking)
