Bench Brush - Hazel & Coco Fibre

£18.00

Handcrafted by a bearded chap in a hat, using a saw, knives, and other human powered tools. The handles of these brushes are made from hazel which is cut as part of sustainable woodland management and coppicing programmes.

Each brush handle is first roughly formed with an axe, before being refined on the shave horse with a drawknife. Once dry, each handle is then fitted with bristles of an appropriate fibre. The fibre of these brushes is coco fibre. Each brush has been finished with a water-based decorator’s varnish, which is hardwearing and water resistant. Please note that only one brush is supplied. The brush supplied will be chosen at random from the selection in the photos. Each brush is approx. in length and is perfect for sweeping up crumbs of wood shavings from a table or workbench surface.

Please note that I do not use power tools or sanding tools/methods to finish my hand carved products. My process also embraces the natural character and qualities of the material being worked, following the organic and inherent contours of the grain and characteristics of each piece of wood. Therefore, you should expect a form that expresses and embraces the beauty of each individual piece of wood, along with some tool marks which celebrate the authentically hand crafted process of each piece.
