WOODCRAFT & WHITTLING FOR BEGINNERS - Weekend WORKSHOPs

Taking place at our private woodland site on the grounds of Gilbert White’s House, Selborne, Hampshire, we will be gathering around the campfire and hosting a 'Woodcraft & Whittling for Beginners' workshop, on Saturday 2nd March, and Sunday 17th March, 10am - 12.30pm.

This 2.5hr woodcraft & whittling for beginners workshop is designed for children approx. 7yrs + and will provide the opportunity to explore basic knife/tool safety and use. After a short introduction to share key info and tips re. the sharpening and maintenance of your knives, participants will discover a range of techniques to allow for simple, safe cutting, whittling and carving of greenwood, and make use of basic cutting/knife skills to produce some items to take home. During this workshop, each participant will have the opportunity to craft their own wood working mallet, and, use it in conjunction with a few key carving techniques/cuts, to work on one or two small greenwood projects. Please note, that this workshop has a focused and structured delivery.

Completion of this ‘beginners’ workshop will enable participants to attend our other ‘family’ woodcraft & whittling workshops, which are aimed at developing confidence and knowledge in green woodworking skills.

An adult will need to accompany children at this workshop.

The cost of this workshop is £20.50 per child (inclusive of 1 accompanying adult per child booking). Parent to child ratio is 1:2 max. Price is inclusive of hot drink and snack.
